Look, if you are here, you are dealing with bugs. Roaches, spiders, ants…something and you are over it. I get it. From January 2022 to June 2023, our home was infested with roaches and let me tell you, it was a whole thing. So again, I GET IT. The shame of it all, the constant stress of keeping the house clean enough to avoid bugs, and the feeling like you're fighting a losing battle… it was and is exhausting.
There were days when I felt so defeated, like no matter how hard we tried, those damn roaches would always find a way to creep back in. We were snapping at the kids to keep the house spotless, so it was always walking irritation in our home. Hell, I was sometimes scared to lay down, because growing up I heard stories of people having roaches in their ears and I did not want that for me, my husband or any of our babies….especially as we had 2 newborns that entered our home during that time. And don't get me started when it came time to eat…. It wasn't about enjoying the food, it was more like a race against the clock—let’s eat before the bugs come out and ruin everything. (Cuz if I seen them, I ain't even hungry no more)
But here’s the thing: I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be that way. You can take control and get rid of those bugs, and yes, I’ve been through it, so I know exactly how you feel.
This is exactly why we created Banish—because I wanted to give you a tool to fight back. Banish isn’t just about getting rid of roaches, it’s about clearing out all the bad energy too. Since launching, it’s not only helped with roaches, but it’s also become a powerful solution for ants and spiders as well.
But here’s the thing: using Banish is just one part of the equation. The other part? It’s cleaning—really cleaning.
And I don’t mean just wiping down countertops or vacuuming here and there. I mean thorough, deep-cleaning your home, especially if you’ve been dealing with a bug infestation. Even if you’re not using Banish yet, this cleaning routine will help keep bugs from making your home their permanent residence.
We decided to break it down by the main rooms of the home so that you can intentionally create the level of clean you desire.
Let’s take a walk through the house…
Kitchen
Clean under the sink – This is a prime spot for bugs to hide.
Check the cabinets – Empty them out and give them a good scrub.
Around the dishwasher – If you can pull it out, do it! Bugs love to sneak in here.
Behind and beside appliances – Stoves and fridges can hide a lot of crumbs. Don’t forget to sweep!
Find and clean water spots – Roaches love moisture, so keep those areas dry.
Sweep and mop nightly – A nightly routine can keep things in check.
Living Room
Clear the corners – Bugs like to hang out in dark, warm spots.
Couch cushions – Take them off and sweep the couch. You’d be surprised what you find!
Clean the closet – Dust bunnies can also be bug buddies!
Bedrooms
Under the box springs – Make sure this hidden area is clean.
Clear the corners – Same rule applies here as in the living room.
Dressers and drawers – Bugs can hide in your clothes, so keep them clean.
Clean the closet – Let’s keep those clothes bug-free!
Bathroom
Under the sink and inside cabinets – These are hot spots for bugs, so give them a good clean.
General Cleaning
Monthly wall cleaning – Food can cake up on walls, and even the tiniest bits can attract bugs. Plus, our walls hold food smells that can lure them in.
Clean baseboards – This helps keep things tidy and bug-free.
After you’ve cleaned those areas, remember to spray Banish to help repel roaches, ants, and spiders from returning. It’s all about partnership for better results!
Let’s be real—no one wants bugs in their home (unless you’re a bug enthusiast, and we’re not talking to you!). It’s time to take action, create a cleaning routine, and make your home a space you love. I’m also working on a blog that will give you steps to establish a healthy cleaning routine that includes the kids and holds everyone accountable. You can click here to be notified when it’s released!
And a special shoutout to Mr. Christopher Moss! My husband was the one rolling up his sleeves to tackle the cleaning while I came in with Banish. I don’t love cleaning; I just love a clean home! Thanks to my husband’s mom, Tracy Moss, for instilling that value in him.
You’re not alone in this journey! Together, we can create a space that feels safe, loving, and free from bugs.
Stay soulful,
Quinteria Moss
